Christ Episcopal Church, Stratford, CT

Our Doors Are Always Open

300th Anniversary
On November 4, 2007, Christ Episcopal Church celebrated its 300th anniversary with a spectacular church service and luncheon at Liedle's Restaurant.

Rev. Andrew D. Smith, the Connecticut Epicopal bishop, delivered a heartfelt sermon describing the church's tumultuous journey from its establishment in colonial times up to the present day. Over 300 attendees sang along with the Christ Church and St. Mark's Church Choirs to rejoice in having been blessed with 30 generations of worship.

Following the service was lunch at Liedle's, where our own Rev. Robert K. Stuhlmann spoke about the church's past and present, and congratulated some hard-working parishioners that made the celebration possible. State Senator Dan Debicella presented the church with an award and read a congratulatory statement from Gov. M. Jodi Rell, while Stratford Mayor James R. Miron declared the day "Christ Episcopal Church Day."

The celebration was a truly remarkable milestone for the first Episcopal diocese of Connecticut, as well as for the town of Stratford. If the past 300 years are any indication, many blessings and exciting times await us in the next 100 years.

We invite you to check out pictures and video (coming soon) of the event below, and be sure to stop by our History section to learn more about the church's fascinating past.
